The costs payable by the selected participants are

General fee details (applicable to all programs)

The above fees are payable by the selected candidates to the local ISJS management, on the first day of orientation and classes.

Costs not covered by ISJS i.e. to be borne by the attending scholars /students regardless of the program of study.


The program does not cover the following expenses.
Passport and Visa application fees.
Travel insurance costs.
Travel by air / taxis or higher classes of train for inter city travel in India connected with ISSJS activities.
Travel within and outside of India not connected to the ISSJS program.
Medical supplies and treatments.
Personal Expenses: personal phone calls, faxes, internet, laundry, toiletries, entertainment, clothes, souvenirs, etc.
Superior or upgraded accommodation like single occupancy rooms or air conditioned rooms and travel by higher class of transport (like air / 2 tier or first AC by train) will be provided by ISJS depending on availability and on supplementary /additional payments to ISJS.
Stay in India prior to or after the ISSJS schedule for all streams.

Financial Support provided by ISJS:

Level I, II and III

ISJS provides the following financial assistance to all students irrespective of the program registered for, and country of their origin.

1.Full tuition fees, full board and lodge (shared non-AC) in India during the program.
2.Course material i.e. study Notes in soft copy (electronic form). A set of five prescribed book at 50 percent discount of listed price.
3.All travel (three tier AC train or AC bus) within India in connection with ISSJS program.
4.NOTE; Participants for ISSJS2011-M make their own board, lodge and transport arrangements to attend ISSJS2011.

Special: Following financial assistance details apply to Level II (Program D) i.e. ISSJS2011-6W Scholars only


Beside the above, ISJS also provides the following financial assistance to all (irrespective of the university or the country of the selected candidate) the participants (payable after the successful completion) of the ISSJS2011-6W (LEVEL II - Program D) only.

1.Return economy airfare to India and back home for all successful candidates
2.Cash stipends for the participants as follows:
1.Full-Time teaching faculty with PhD qualification: US$1000
2.Others, enrolled in graduate study, PhD programs, Post doctoral fellows US$ 600
3.Past alumni of ISSJS are not eligible for any cash stipends but may be considered for air travel to and from India.

First and second cash prizes of US$300 and US$200 respectively to the first and second best two project papers submitted by participants.
Please note that except as stated here above, no other financial support is offered by ISJS to participants of any programs including to ISSJS2011-6W (Program D) participants.

FINANCIAL Payments by ISJS


i.Airfare. ISJS, MVI or JAFNA USA shall buy air tickets on group economic fare basis and send the ticket to the individual scholar. Scholars are not permitted to buy their own tickets.

ii.Stipend, as indicated for ISSJS2011-6W program, shall be paid by MVI or JAFNA through a cross check payable at any bank in USA after the successful completion of the program by the scholar. The check will be mailed to scholar’s address by July 23rd 2011. The successful completion of the scholar will be judged by his/her attendance record and quality of research paper submitted by him /her at the end of the program. Decisions of The director India ISSJS India shall be final and binding in each case.
iii.No cash payment of any kind shall be made by ISJS in India to any scholar /student. iv.Candidates who withdraw from the program ISSJS2011-6W during the currency of the program shall return the airfare paid by MVI /JAFNA plus expenses incurred by ISJS @ US$30 per day for the duration of the program attended by him / her.
